In 2021, the United States recorded global dog and cat food exports valued at $2.1 billion, of which approximately 47 percent was destined for the Canadian market. Over the past five years, U.S. exports of dog and cat food to Canada increased from $640 million in 2017 to $976 million in 2021, an increase of 52 percent. Canadian retailers and customers look for innovation and sustainable products that their pets enjoy and are safe to eat for their pets.
